Vision is the best of the five primary human senses. Ultrasound machine uses the ultrasound principle and allows the anaesthetist to visualise the complex and varied nerve anatomy prior to needle insertion. Along with real- time guidance of the needle towards nerve plexus, ultrasound allows the anaesthetist to witness and manipulate the spread of local anaesthesia around the nerves. This visual confirmation of the spread of local anaesthesia around the nerves produces a rapid and successful nerve block.
